Final Visit of the "ICT U C Europe" Project
Finnish and German visitors with Scottish hosts |
|
The final visit of the project was made from 27 April to 1 May 2005 when 5 teachers and 8 students from Finland and Germany visited Peebles.
There was a varied programme of activites within the school ranging from classroom visits involving Drama, Cooking and German to workshops on Learning Styles and Self-presentation for job interviews.
Other activites included visits to Traquair House, Edinburgh Castle, the Scottish Parliament Building and a scary Ghost Walk.
The Saturday of the visit left the visitors with their hosts and trips included fishing on the Tweed, Lindisfarne, Rosslyn Chapel, Arthur's Seat and North Berwick's Sea Bird Centre.
The final event of the trip for the visiting teachers was held at Kalizie Gardens. After a walk around the gardens and a welcome from a lone piper, all the teachers from Peebles High School who has participated in the 3-year project gathered to say farewell to the visiting teachers from Finland and Germany.
The Comenius Co-ordinators from Finland and Germany were presented with a "Scottish Teddy Bear" complete with tartan kilt and scarf and a genuine "See You Jimmy" tartan tammy.
An application has been made for a new Comenius 1 Project which will include the former partner schools from Finland and Germany and a new partner school in Menorca. It will be late June or early July befor we know if the application has been successful.
It is hoped that the excellent links established will be continued and a Work-related Project is being considered at present. | | Finding out about PHS in a quiz |
