Visit to Vammala - May 2004
Mr Brown with staff and students at Vammalan lukio |
|
George Davidson, Comenius Co-ordinator at Peebles High School and John Brown, Rector at Peebles High School, visited the school's Comenius Partner School at Vammala, Finland from 5-9 May 2004.
The main purpose of the visit was twofold - firstly to introduce Mr Brown to the Comenius partner school, the Vammalan lukio and secondly, to visit some local business to set up international business links for Peebles High School's new Business Partnership initiative.
After visiting the school, 3 factories were visited - Konepaja (a manufacturer of specialised hospital beds), Epsira (a manufacturer of styrofoam packing materials and cycle helmets) and Vexve (a manufacturer of ball valves for use in water, oil and gas pipelines). Photographs of the visits are shown below.
As usual, we were treated to generous hospitality by our hosts Hilkka and Antti Rajakorpi and warmly greeted by the staff of the school and of the factories we visited. As can be seen in some of the photographs below, we had a varied and enjoyable itinerary.
Our thanks go to all our Finnish friends!
