French Poem
Third Year French Comenius Project
In June 2004, 26 pupils from my third year French class created Powerpoint presentations as part of this project.
These recounted in words and pictures the poem ?Déjeuner du Matin? by Jacques Prévert. The poem, told in the first person, is about the final breakfast shared by a couple before the end of their relationship.
One of the objectives was to consolidate their knowledge of the perfect tense. They selected their own images, from the internet and from clipart, to illustrate scenes and text from the poem.
This project improved their IT skills and gave a new dimension to the course as the end product was sent to their counterparts in Germany. This concept of having a ?critical audience? certainly focused their attention on delivering a high quality presentation. No doubt the same applied to the German pupils who sent their version of the poem in the form of a short film.
The pupils found it an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Here are a few of their comments.
I found making the Powerpoint presentation very interesting and fun to do.
It was good to see all the German presentations and compare them to ours.
It was good and unlike any other poem I have read.
I enjoyed doing the presentations.
