VAMMALA HAS NEW VIDEO CONFERENCING EQUIPMENT

After some initial difficulties, a  video link was made between the Vammalan lukio in Finland and Peebles High School in Scotland on Friday 31 October.  Another test link will be made on Monday 3 November to make sure that a link to launch the system on Thursday 6 November will go smoothly.  That link will take place when the German and Scottish Comenius partner schools are present and they will talk with Mr John Brown the new headteacher of Peebles High School.

This is an exciting development for the Comenius Project and for both schools.  Video conferencing makes it possible to have direct contact with such people as authors, poets, sports celebrities or politicians for the benefit of the students' education.  It is also possible to link with other educational bodies to share resources such as offering courses jointly when it would not be possible to offer the courses separately in each of the organisations.
