The Otto-Hahn-Gymansium in Ostfildern was founded in 1968.  In 2000 the annexe which is used by the OHG and the neighbouring school, the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium, was inaugurated.

In 32 classes about 800 students are taught by 70 teachers.

The students are between 10 and 19 years old.

In the three?tier German school system, the ?Gymnasium?  takes you, after 9 years, to the ?Abitur?, a school-leaving examination which allows you to take up studies at a university.

Foreign languages taught:  English, French, Latin, Italian, Russian, Classical Greek

Students can decide whether they want to place emphasis on sciences with more mathematics, physics and chemistry lessons or whether they want to opt for 3 foreign languages, e.g. English, Latin, French.

Regular exchanges take place with Peebles High School in Peebles, Scotland, with a college in Chambéry (Savoie, France) and a liceo in Italy.  Occasional exchanges take place with a school in the Ukraine.

Special features:

The OHG is a partner school for the ?Olympiastützpunkt Stuttgart? with a large range of sports offers. 

It has also won prizes whilst participating in the ecological project of ?Klimaschutz und Energiesparen? (?save our environment and energy?).

Since autumn 2002 the OHG has established official links to schools in Finland, Italy and Scotland as a Comenius partner school.

Additional activities:

There are 2 school choirs which perform regularly and with great success. 

There are also very successful school teams in swimming and handball both of which have won trophies in competitions.

Extracurricular activities are varied and include technics, internet, animal care and sewing.  These activities are very popular with students.

School mensa:

The school cafeteria offers meals to students and teachers of the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium and the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium.  A cook prepares meals together with volunteering mothers and fathers, a salad bar and a buffet with cakes are also provided.
