Vammala is a town with about 16000 inhabitants nicely located within easy reach to three big cities, Tampere, Turku and Helsinki. It sits astride along the river Kokemäenjoki, which spreads itself into two lakes, Lake Rautavesi and Lake Liekovesi making the surroundings beautiful both in the summer and in the winter.
Vammala?s probably best known attraction is the annual Old Books? Fair, held at the end of June inviting book lovers from all over the country, even abroad.
There are two old stone churches dating back to medieval times, very popular for summer weddings and concerts. We also have an 18-hole golf course and another is being built at the moment providing nice experiences for golfers in very beautiful surroundings.
Vammala also has some important industries, like Vammas OY that exports e.g. snow clearing equipment for airports as well as other road construction and maintenance vehicles. Epsira OY makes styrofoam packages and cycling helmets. Rubber industry makes gas masks, just to name a few. There are different schools and institutions as well as a hospital.
